  • SINTRA, PORTUGAL

With its rippling mountains, dewy forests thick with ferns and lichen, exotic gardens and glittering palaces, Sintra is like a page torn from a fairy tale. Its Unesco World Heritage–listed centre, Sintra-Vila, is dotted with pastel-hued manors folded into luxuriant hills that roll down to the blue Atlantic.Celts worshipped their moon god here, the Moors built a precipitous castle, and 18th-century Portuguese royals swanned around its dreamy gardens. Even Lord Byron waxed lyrical about Sintra’s charms: ‘Lo! Cintra’s glorious Eden intervenes, in variegated maze of mount and glen’, which inspired his epic poem Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage.

    • WHAT'S A SHOE CONCIERGE?

We’ve rented out the Palace for the entire night and intend to use it. Which means, LADIES: in lieu of handing out flimsy flip-flops, use the welcome bag to bring your own comfortable shoes to change into. Simply write your name on the hang tag, add shoes to bag, and leave it at the Shoe Concierge Drop-Off in your hotel lobby (Palácio Seteais, Tivoli Sintra, or Lawrence’s Hotel). Staying elsewhere? Bring it to the ceremony where there will be a drop-off basket at the entrance. Shoes will be brought up to the Palácio and placed on your assigned seat, for when you need that extra boost of late night comfort to keep the dancefloor going.

      WHAT'S THE DRESS CODE?

To alleviate any confusion caused by our inventive vocabulary, may we explain:
      Thursday welcome drinks: Casual Dressy

WHAT KIND OF SHOES SHOULD I WEAR?

AT 5’1”, Clara loves heels, but loves dancing the night away more. Wear comfortable shoes, please.
